Doris Blanche Long

Born in East Stroudsburg, on February 13, 1926, she was a daughter to the late Harold and Marie (Pappilion) Ackerman. Doris was a graduate of East Stroudsburg High School, class of 1944. She began her working career at Ronson Lighter Corporation in Delaware Water Gap, as an inspector a position she held for 18 year leaving that position to be a stay at home Mom. Once her children were grown, Doris opened her own business, Doris Long Cleaning and Waxing Service, in East Stroudsburg, which she owned and operated for 18 years. Upon her retirement Doris than spent her time helping care for the elderly.

Doris enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren; she felt they were her world. She loved to spend time outside on her porch and at Lake Seneca in the Finger Lakes in upstate NY; Doris also loved dogs, birds and BINGO.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was her loving husband Wallace T. Long whom passed away on the same day as her February 19, 1991, a sister, Lorraine Modelo and her husband Lindo.

Surviving is her two daughters: Linda Whittaker and her partner, Richard Butz, of East Stroudsburg, Carol Koberlein, of Stroudsburg; a son-in-law: Charles Koberlein, of East Stroudsburg; two grandchildren: Romain Whittaker II, of East Stroudsburg, and Sarah A. Koberlein, of Reading; and a brother: Raymond Ackerman and his wife, Shirley, of Stroudsburg; many sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

A prayer service will be held on Monday, February 24, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home Inc. 27 Washington Street East Stroudsburg, Rev. Father Edward Lyman, from St. Matthew’s Roman Catholic Church, East Stroudsburg, officiating . Interment will follow in Laurelwood Cemetery, Bryant St., in Stroudsburg.

A public visitation will be held on Monday February 24, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service, at the funeral home.
