Born September 7, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Richard H. Pascoe and Amelia Barbush Pascoe in Hazelton, PA.
The family moved to her father’s hometown of Scranton, PA following his discard from the military after WW II. She graduated from West Scranton High School in 1961. Elaine went on to study nursing at Mercy Hospital School of Nursing where she was Senior Class President. She graduated in 1964.
Elaine married Donald A. Ransom at Holy Cross Catholic Church on October 22, 1966. They moved to Stroudsburg where he was employed by Bell Telephone and she worked at Pocono Hospital as an ER and OR nurse. The family then moved to Altoona, PA where Elaine dedicated herself to being a full-time wife and mother, as well as caring for her widowed mother. The family moved to East Stroudsburg in 1975. Elaine was a self-employed contract medical examiner for an insurance exam agency from 1985 until her death.
Elaine volunteered regularly at her daughters’ schools, Notre Dame Elementary and Notre Dame High School. She and her husband were also longtime Red Cross volunteers at blood drives and served on the board. Elaine was an active member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church for 47 years volunteering on various church committees. She most recently enjoyed playing bingo with the senior group.
Elaine was vivacious, loved to dance, laugh and spend time with her family. Her grandchildren have lasting memories of their fun-loving grandma riding water slides at Camelback and playing a mean game of badminton. Her favorite places were the beaches in Cape Cod, MA and Wildwood Crest, NJ.
Elaine had been preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Lucille, who died at birth.

Daughters: Karen Ransom Meno and her husband, Joseph E. Meno (Fate, TX), Donna Ransom and her partner Michael Galletti (Holly Springs, NC), and Patricia Ransom Shupard and her husband, George Shupard (Spring City, PA).
Grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Nicholas Meno, wife Holli Bird Meno and their two children Sylar Cash and Aspen Wren (Caddo Mills, TX); Joseph E. Meno III and wife, Alexandra Praschak Meno (Cannon Air Force Base, Clovis, NM); Amelia M. Meno (Fate, TX) and Cecelia A. Shupard (Spring City, PA).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday December 23, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the St. Matthews Catholic Church 200 Brodhead Ave, East Stroudsburg. A gathering of family and friends will be held 930 AM until the time of service at the church as well. Burial will take place at 1PM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Red Cross.
