
She was born on February 8, 1915 in Scranton, PA. Emily was the daughter of the late Walter and Minnie (Hafner) Sweet.
Emily was an active member of several associations such as: a member of America Association of Retired Persons, Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, Pocono Hospital Aux., a very active member of the East Stroudsburg Methodist Church and the Silver Threads at the Church.
She worked many years as a cashier and cook at the Green Lantern from 1944 – 1960. Emily also worked at the East Stroudsburg High school as a cashier and kitchen worker from 1960 – 1977. She worked at Pocono Hospital in the coffee shop at the same time as a waitress and cashier, for the hospital Aux. from 1960- 1983. Emily was a dedicated employee and a very hard worker.
Some of Emily’s passions in life were gardening, baking, reading and growing miniature roses.
Surviving are her two nieces: Patricia A. Sweet, of Stamford, CT, and Shirley Arnold, of East Stroudsburg; A Nephew Eugene and his wife Eileen Sweet, of Lakewood Ranch, FL; and a beloved Grand-niece: Katy Sweet, of Lakewood Ranch, FL; a cousin: Amelia Roth, of Daleville, PA.
Emily was predeceased by her beloved parents, her husband: Earl F. Bush, and her brother: Walter H. Sweet.
Family and Friends will gather on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg, PA. Funeral Services will follow at the East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, officiating will be Rev. Dr. Edward C. Kimes. Interment will follow at Prospect Cemetery, in East Stroudsburg.
