
Born in Astoria, Queens, NY on July 29, 1941, he was a son of the late George C. Jr. and Joyce A. (Johnson) Mills. George graduated from Earl L. Vandermeulen High School, Port Jefferson, NY. He enlisted in the United States Navy, surviving his country in the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge, he acquired a position as marine mechanic, a position he held for many years. George then obtained a position in the parts department of the automobile dealership, relocated to East Stroudsburg and worked for Abeloff Dealerships, in Stroud Twp., and retired from Gray Dealerships, also in Stroud Twp., in 2003.
George enjoyed hunting, tinkering with his trains, and collecting guns.
Surviving are his wife 32 years, Thea (Cade) Mills, of East Stroudsburg; daughters, Alison Johnson and her husband Christopher, of New Hampshire, Jennifer Ramirez of Astoria, Queens, NY; stepdaughters, Lauren Grevi of Manchester, NH, Wendy Casey and her husband Bill of Centereach, NY, Tudy Aprile of Kissimmee, FL, Thea Sherlock and her husband Steven of Mastic, NY, Trina Goncalves of West Berry, NY; stepson, John Schulze and his wife Mary of Miller Place, NY; brother, Peter Mills of East Stroudsburg; and sister, Carol Mills of Rocky Point, NY; 18 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
A public viewing will be held on Saturday March 15, 2014 from 1:00P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
