Margaret C. Place, 101, of East Stroudsburg passed away peacefully Wednesday evening May 1, 2013 at her residence.

She was born in Brooklyn, NY; on August 31, 1911.She was the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Charlotte (Mayer) Werry.

Margaret and her mother owned and operated Werry’s Motel in East Stroudsburg from 1925 until 1970. She was also co-owner of Place Construction Company, in East Stroudsburg until she retired in 1976.

She was a member of the Middle Smithfield Presbyterian Church, and a charter member of the Marshalls Creek Volunteer Fire Company’s Women’s Auxiliary. The Eagles Club in Stroudsburg, The Elks Lodge #319 in East Stroudsburg.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents was her husband Pardee S. Place, who passed away on October 10, 1991.

Margaret is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 9, 2013 at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home Inc, 27 Washington Street East Stroudsburg at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor. Jeffrey Brower officiating. Interment will follow at Laurelwood Cemetery, in Stroudsburg.

A public visitation will be held at the funeral home on May 9, 2013 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
