

Born in Ashley, PA on November 23, 1919, he was a son of the late Thomas and Marcella (Gorlewski) Yanovich. Leo graduated from Ashley High School class of 1938, and continued his education at Great Bend Training School, Great Bend, PA; graduating in 1940 as an Arc Welder. He obtained a position with Hauck Manufacturing Company in Brooklyn, NY; where he was employed until he enlisted in the United States Army, serving his county as an automotive mechanic 2nd Echelon, under the direction of General George Patton during World War II. Following his honorable discharge he returned to the New York City area and returned to work at Hauck Manufacturing Company in Brooklyn. Leo relocated to New Jersey and obtained a position at Midland Ross. He was a shift foreman for the high speed balancing crew a position he held until his retied, relocated to Monroe County where he was a resident for over 30 years.
He was a member of St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, Marshalls Creek,
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his wife of 49 years, Anna Rose (Hlavina) Yanovich who passed away in 1992; brothers, Thomas Yanovich, Michael Yanovich, Frank Zakrzeski and Stanley Zakrzeski; sister, Irene Skipalis; and daughter-in-law Eleanor Yanovich
Surviving are his son, Leo James Yanovich of Byram, NJ; daughter, Maryann Busch and her husband Glenn of Dingmans Ferry; sister, Marcella Domanski of Wilkes Barre; brothers, Alfred Yanovich of Wilkes Barre, and Alec Zakrzeski of Linden, NJ; 3 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held from the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg at noon on Thursday May 29, 2014 a mass of Christian burial will follow at 1:00P.M. in St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Jeffrey J. Walsh, Celebrant, village of Marshalls Creek, U.S. 209 East Stroudsburg. Interment with Military honors will follow in Sandhill Cemetery, Sandhill Drive, Shoemakers.
A public visitation will be held on Thursday May 29, 2014 at the funeral home from 11:00 A.M. until noon.
