

Alice Rose Clark, a lifelong resident of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away at the age of 89 on January 14, 2015, at Copper Lake Estates Assisted Living Center. Born May 11, 1925, to Milton and Lora Yoesting, she graduated in 1943 from Edmond High School. While working as a teller at Citizens Bank of Edmond, she earned two degrees from Central State College, now known as the University of Central Oklahoma. Alice married Clyde J. Clark on March 3, 1946 and had one son, Darryl Wayne Clark. Both preceded her in death.
Alice taught in the Edmond school district at Russell Dougherty Elementary for 22 years, and at Will Rogers Elementary for three years. After retirement, she worked as a clerk in the jewelry department at Edmond’s first Wal-Mart.
Alice was active in Kappa Delta Pi, and held membership in K.K.I., Oklahoma County Retire Teachers, W.C.T.U., Educators Credit Union Committee, and was the first treasurer of the Edmond V.F.W. She was a longtime member of the Oklahoma Historical Society and joined the Edmond Historical Society in 1988 as a Life Time Member.
From 1988 to 2002, she served on the Oklahoma Election Board. She became a member of the Edmond Senior Center in 1989, where she served as pianist for the Golden Harmonizers Chorus, accompanying its first concert in April of 1990. She also served on the Advisory Committee of the Edmond Senior Center. She further donated many hours to several different volunteer programs at the Senior Center.
Alice was an active member of Edmond First Church of the Nazarene for over 80 years. She served there as choir director while in high school, and later as Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School leader. She also served on both the Church Board as well as the Day Care Board. She sang in the church choir as a faithful member for many years. In 1985, she received a plaque for 50 years of service to the Church. In 2008, Alice was given the Special Heritage Award at the Church’s Centennial Service.
Along with her parents, husband and son, she was preceded in death by sisters, Marie Mulder and Clara Strelow, as well as brothers, Roy and Clarence Yoesting. Survivors include her sister, Dorothy Henton of Edmond, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be at Baggerley Funeral Home, Sunday, from 12pm to 8pm. Funeral services will be 10am, Monday, at Edmond First Church of the Nazarene. Interment will be at follow at Gracelawn Cemetery, Edmond.
