Beverly Sue Edwards, came into this world on January 17, 1954 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Dr. Ronald and Mrs. Susie Edwards. Bev grew up an only child who was loved deeply by her parents. Beverly attended NW Classen High School. While still in High school she met the love of her life, Robert Smith. They were wed on Independence Day 1969, at which time she inherited five brothers and four sisters. Bev went from being an only child to one of many. She enjoyed this all her life and boy did she fit right in. At a very young age she and Bobby ventured to Beaumont, Texas carving out a married fife and building a home. Their first born was Jennifer. Being a mother gave her such wonderful fullment. So, the next year, along came Michael. Bev was the most devoted wife, mother and daughter. Beverly had many wonderful talents but her biggest and most important one was her ability to show others her love of the Lord and her family. She encouraged everyone she knew to call upon the name of Jesus as their Lord and Savior. And she showed them how to do it by the very way she lived her life. She is now with our Lord and celebrating in Heaven. She showed all around her how to be a lady, how to love the Lord and let Him guide their lives, she showed with her life true kindness, compassion, selflessness, forgiveness and love. She showed strength of character, devotion, honor, honesty and an absolute, uncompromising integrity. She always believed the best of people and never embellished, she spoke only truth and she taught these things to her children and grandchildren.
Beverly enjoyed life so very much. She enjoyed sneaking off to Six Flags over Texas to ride roller coasters until she was sick. She was avid water skier and snow-skier. She enjoyed camping and fisher with her family. She was game for any adventure, she also had a dare devil side to her. Beverly laughed often and was so kind and generous. There was a time when she was very young and she and Bobby were in the grocery store, this lady was short of enough money to pay for her items so Beverly began to take some of her items out so she would have enough money to give that other lady. Beverly loved her Lord so much that of the things she wanted to do was visit the Holy Land and walk where Jesus walked, so Bobby made that happen. She was blessed to go to the Holy Land with Hal Lindsey and Paul and Jan Crouch. She had very little money at the time but still she brought something back for all she knew. She was so happy to have been blessed and wanted to share with others.
Her entire family knew where she stood when it came to her deep faith and love of Jesus Christ.
Beverly was blessed even more when her first grandchild, Cheyenne, was born. There was never a more devoted and proud grandma. Then when Logan was born her joy was beyond description. She was the best granma to them. They were all best friends. Beverly was so fulfilled with the love she gave her family. She adored her grandchildren, Cheyenne and Logan, Austin and Kristen. She used to play games like hiding under a blanket to be “Blanket Monster” making the kids laugh.
Beverly sewed the kids Halloween costumes, taught them her passion for Christ, and taught them to craft and paint. Beverly worked for 19 years as an accountant for a large insurance company in Oklahoma City. This was a wonderful joy to her and she loved her family there to. Beverly attended Putnam City Christian Church. She spent her life devoting herself to God, her mother, Susie, who was so precious and important to her. Making sure her mother had what she could give her and was happy and well cared for was of the utmost importance to her. She devoted herself to her love Bobby, her children and grandchildren and Kristen.
Beverly is survived and missed terribly by her mother Susie Goodson; beloved, Bobby Smith, her children Jennifer and Michael; grandchildren Cheyenne and Logan; her adopted girl Kristen, aunt, Abbie Robertson; four sisters, five brothers, 13 nieces and nephews, 6 great nieces and nephews, and 7
