Bradley Braxton Jones, 60, passed away, Saturday, March 31 in his home in Edmond, OK. Brad, as he was known by those close to him, was born August 1, 1951 in Great Bend, KS to Charles Alfred (Fred) Jones and Freda Marie (Aurell) Jones.
Brad attended Cushing High School and graduated from the University of Oklahoma’s School of Business. He was an adventurous and creative child and as a young adult, he dedicated several summers to mentoring children. He was known for shaping his life around the metaphor of a phoenix rising from ashes as he often strove to see the good in adverse situations, facing challenges with a tenacious drive to rise above. With this mindset, he overcame several life difficulties, eventually developing a thriving company that he named as a reminder of this life metaphor. Phoenix Hardwood was recently recognized as 39th fastest growing business in the Oklahoma City Metro Area. This attitude clearly stemmed from his love and devotion to his two daughters, which were a source of unending energy and pride for him. His love of people was obvious in all areas of his life as he sought to bring humor and joy to those around him. Brad was well loved by his family and friends and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Edmond. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Jones, and is survived by his mother, Freda Jones; his sisters, Pam Dickson and her husband Robert, and Judy Phelps and her husband Mark; his daughters, Susanne Kramer and her husband Chris, and Elizabeth Cannon and her husband Cameron; and their daughter, his granddaughter, the delight of his life, Hazel Avery Cannon.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Turning Point Ministries of First Presbyterian Church of Edmond, a division of Habitat for Humanity. A service will be held at 2:00p.m. at Baggerly funeral home in Edmond on Thursday, April 5th, 2012.
