Darrell Leon Markwell

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, May 24, 2019 at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 S Broadway, Edmond, Oklahoma. His dear friend, Mr. Ron Walters will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Darrell was born August 3, 1951 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He graduated from Meeker High School in 1969 and with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1983 from the University of Central Oklahoma along with a master’s degree in Natural and Applied Science from Oklahoma State University in 1993. On April 20, 1973 he married his high school sweetheart, Connie Lambert in Meeker, Oklahoma. Darrell was the co-founder of Markwell Paving Company and gained the love and respect of many employees and colleagues over the years. He was very active in Boy Scouts of America and Camp Fire Boys and Girls. His grandchildren were the light of his life and enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling with his adored wife and friends.

Darrell is survived by his wife Connie Markwell; his son Damon Markwell and wife Jennifer; his daughter Lindsey Kitchko and husband Dusty; his grandchildren Brayden, Olivia, Garrett, Preston, Kyle, Jackson and Chevelle; his mother Erlene Davis; sister Judy Johnson; goddaughter Robin Haley and husband Sean; Mike and Megan Boatman; god-grandsons Conner and Ashton; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and very special friends. He was preceded in death by his father Harvey Markwell and wife Lorraine; his Dad Merle Davis; his mother-in-law Nelva Wyatt; his brothers-in-law Mike Lambert and Joseph Johnson; and his nephew Colby Wolfe.
