Deanna Marie (Purtell) Gaston, 57, of Oklahoma City passed away August 29, 2014. Deanna was born October 9, 1956 in North Kingston, R.I. to Joseph M. & Julia P. (Henderson) Purtell. Deanna graduated from Bonita Vista High School class of 1974. She proudly served the U.S. Army from 1974 to 1983, during which time she continued her education earning a Bachelor’s Degree at Walter Reed Army Institute of Nursing in 1978. She was discharged honorably as Captain, Army Nurse Corp. She is also a retired Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse.
Deanna was preceded in death by her mother, Julia; and brothers, Joe and Kevin J. Purtell. She is survived by her father, Joseph M. Purtell & wife Liz of Melbourne, FL; husband, Robert Gaston; daughter, Julia R Gaston, M.D.; two brothers: Mark E Purtell of Charlotte N.C and David Purtell of Warwick, Rhode Island; four nieces; four nephews; and the choir at St. John’s.
A Vigil will be held 7pm, Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am, Thursday, September 4, 2014, also at St. John’s.
