Debra Lynn Thompson Broomfield was born on January 12, 1971 on Long Island, New York, and came to live in Edmond when she was four. She went to be with the Lord on February 14, 2015 after a courageous, yearlong battle with leukemia.
Debby attended schools in Edmond, graduating from Memorial High School in 1987. We later went on to earn her Bachelor degree from UCO and her MBA from Oklahoma Christian University. She worked for Dolese Bros. for approximately 23 years, most recently as Human Resources Director.
Debby married Michael Broomfield on August 4, 1990, the love of her life. They had a loving and active life together, which included traveling, outdoor sports, piloting their own plane, and hours of fun at the lake house with a large extended family.
She was a lot of fun to be around – a caring, thoughtful and highly intelligent and motivated lady, with a great sense of humor. She loved to read and worked on the families’ genealogy. She loved children, and had great times with her extended family.
She is pre-deceased by her father, Homer Richard Thompson, and leaves behind her loving husband Michael Broomfield; mother, Sharon Thompson; sister Carol Thompson; children: Leslie Broomfield and David Broomfield and wife, Tracy, and granddaughter Ella, as well as cousins in Oklahoma City, Ohio and New York, and numerous extended family members on the Thompson and Broomfield sides.
Funeral services were held at Baggerly Funeral Home on Friday, September 20, 2015, with internment at Gracelawn Cemetery. Debby is greatly missed by all those who knew her, from childhood, her career at Dolese, and the family she loved.
