Master Carpenter- passed away June 2nd at Mercy Hospital. Don was born in Oklahoma City, Ok 2-15-1936 to Charlie and Vecie Hunter. Graduated from Capitol Hill High school and attended the college of business at OCU. He married Emily Merline Kelly. They were married for 55 years until her passing in October 2011.
Don moved the family from south OKC to Edmond, OK to be closer to TG&Y Central Fixtures at 33rd and Broadway. He followed his career for 32 years until Central Fixtures closing. The next journey took him to Oklahoma Historical Society but the final journey was with the Cowboy Hall of Fame. He worked there many years, until his retirement age of 77 in 2013.
Don was an avid archery shooter, fisherman and master carpenter. He would design, fix or make anything that anyone would need. Don is survived by his daughter, Dinah Hargrove and husband Mike; brother Ed hunter and wife Andrea, granddaughters; Melissa Burgard and husband Travis, two great grandsons, Emily Carrig and husband Ian; numerous family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Emily Merline Hunter.
