Fernando Guzman Ochoa passed at his home surrounded by his wife & children. He touched so many lives with his kindness and positive outlook on life; always greeted you with a smile & a kiss. Fernando was born in Morelia Michoacan, Mexico and came to Oklahoma at 19 years old to join his mother. To learn English, he immediately enrolled in night school at Central High School, began reading the newspaper and watching TV.
Fernando was the FIRST Mexican to obtain an Oklahoma driver’s license. He attended trade school & for 42 years he worked as a Tool & Die maker/Mechanical Engineer at International Environmental Corporation. He became an American citizen in 1964. Fernando married Audry Lee Miller in October of 1965 and together they had four children. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this October.
Upon arriving in Oklahoma Fernando joined a baseball team, which developed into the Americaʼs Soccer team; his first love, until he met the game of golf! An avid golfer & Pan Am Golf Association member, Fernando made two holes-in-one and a double-eagle! He taught his wife Audry and his children how to play golf.
Fernando was survived by his wife, Audry; and children: Abby McCarty, Zina Ochoa Barnes, Sandra Ochoa Brazil, Henry Ochoa, and Melynda Ochoa. He was preceded in death by Josephina Carranza Ochoa, his beloved aunt Abbigail Ochoa Carranza, sister Elvia Ochoa, and his son Freddy McCarty.
