Fred H. Rucker Jr.

Fred H Rucker, Jr. passed away on April 14, 2016. He was born in Oklahoma City in 1930. Following his father’s footsteps, he joined the Oklahoma City Fire Department in 1951 and served the city for over 22 years. Upon retiring from the city as Assistant Fire Marshal, he went to work for the State Fire Marshal’s Office as an agent in 1974 and served as State Fire Marshal from December 1, 1984 to September 15, 1988. He retired from the State Fire Marshal’s Office in 1992.

In 1949, he married Johnnie Morris. They were married for 38 years and had three children: Fred Rucker III, Teri McKenna and Peggy Steeves. After losing Johnnie to cancer, he married Joyce Sartin, who passed away in 2010. Barbara Fox was his close companion in the last few years of his life.

Mr. Rucker is survived by his 3 children and their spouses, 4 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Baggerley Funeral Home on Tuesday April 19th from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Funeral Service will be held at the Memorial Park Historic Cemetery Chapel on Wednesday April 20th at 10:00 AM with the committal to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood, OK.
