Born on September 16, 1948, in the Detroit area to Elizabeth and Kolman Krishan, Garret grew up with a determined spirit and a deep passion for design. Working to put himself through school, he earned his Bachelor of Architecture at Lawrence Technology Institute of Technology and was an active member of Phi Kappa Upsilon. He earned his Master’s degree in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis. His education laid the foundation for a lifetime of creative exploration and architectural achievements.
Garret went on to be a founding partner of **KSQ Design**, a firm that would leave a meaningful impression on campuses across the United States, including SMU and TCU. Under his leadership, the firm designed buildings for dozens of universities, elevating learning environments through purposeful and innovative design. After selling the firm, Garret embraced his lifelong artistic calling, becoming a full-time creative artist whose works garnered awards and recognition. Beyond his professional success, Garret was known for his selfless mentorship and his everlasting legacy on young architects. His insight, vision, and kindness shaped many careers and lives throughout the architectural community.
Garret is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Krishan, who was his steadfast companion for over 48 years. She was the quiet strength beside him through every season of life. Her steadfast loyalty and their enduring love stand as a lasting beacon for all who follow in their footsteps. He is also survived by his sister, Christina Bertolissio of Windsor, Canada and his niece and nephew, Melissa and Brian; and his brother, Ken Krishan of Nashville, Tennessee. He is also lovingly remembered by his daughter, Dr. Andrea Partida, DO, and his two beloved grandchildren, Ava and Ella.
He was fortunate to experience a lifetime love that so many aspire to find. He took great pride in his daughter, admiring her professional accomplishments, her unwavering strength, and the grace with which she approached life. His two granddaughters brought him endless joy, and he treasured being present in every part of their lives. His spirit will continue to live on through them, reflected in their values and their love. He found true contentment in life’s simple moments shared with family and friends, cherishing the bonds and memories that gave his life such deep meaning. Garret’s life was a testament to creativity, perseverance, and mentorship. He will be remembered for his generosity, loyalty, integrity, and respect for others. He will be profoundly missed by everyone who knew him and by every community he touched.
