
Helen Frances Criner Lawrence, was born 9-15-22 in Okla. City and lived in OK all her life. She was the great-great granddaughter of Ben Love, a Chickasaw Indian interpreter for the government at the time of the removal of the Indians in the 1800’s. Her grandfather was John Benjamin Criner for whom the Criner Hills in southern Oklahoma were named. Her parents were Geo. E. Criner and Esther Hargis Criner. After graduating fro Central High School in 1941 she went to work for Oklahoma Photo Supply where she met Paul A. Lawrence. They married in 1942. They had 3 children, Robert Dale and Dana Lawrence of Dallas, TX; Karen and Karrol Spence of OKC and Douglas A. and Ginny Lawrence of OKC. She was also blessed with a special daughter, Judy Lawrence of Daytona Beach, FL; 6 grandchildren, Troy and Travis Lawrence, Shellie Owen, Kevin Mulanax, Katie Lawrence and Kristen Conyers and 8 great- great grandchildren, Taylor and Courtney Lawrence, Conner, Macey and Kyle Owen and Blake, Cooper and Campbell Mulanax. She worked at Farmers Insurance Claims Office from 1952 until 1963. In 1970 they moved to Edmond, OK where she and Paul operated Lawrence Jewelers until 1982. She then worked in the jewelry dept at Streets until 1987. She volunteered her time as a receptionist at Henderson Hills Baptist Church from 1990-1993 in addition to counting the offering on Mondays. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jack; and by her husband in 2006. Helen was a loving Mother to her children, a loving wife to her husband and Maw-Maw to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had 3 special dogs throughout the years, Snoopy, Tigger and Prissy and too many cats to name. Her love for God, family and friends describes her life. She will be greatly missed, but always remembered for the way she patted her children, grand and great grandchildren to sleep, her love of reading and playing board games. Her life touched many and left a lasting imprint on all.
Services for Helen will be 10:00am, Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at the Rose Hill Abbey Mausoleum with interment following at Rose Hill Burial Park.
