

Jack David Hubbard former resident of Ponca City, OK passed away January 22, 2012 at his residence in Edmond, OK with his family by his side. He was 93. Memorial services celebrating his life and entry into his eternal home will be 10:00am, Wednesday, January 25 at Baggerley Funeral Home Chapel in Edmond with Dr. Bruce Sanders officiating. Interment will follow at Longwood Cemetery in Ponca City, OK at 2:30pm. Jack was born on January 11, 1919 to William Manlus Hubbard and Modie Lucille Hodges Hubbard on the Wilheim Ranch in Menard County near Brady, TX. He received his education in Eastland and Loraine, TX schools. He was married to Edith Lorraine Hobson on Sept. 1, 1940 in Artesia, NM, where the couple made their first home. They also lived in Denver, CO, before moving to Ponca City, OK in 1944. They had moved to Edmond, OK in 1992. Edith was his ‘sweetheart’ until her death in 2008, after 68 years of marriage. Jack was devoted to his family, he was a good provider and excellent role model for his children and grandchildren. Jack joined the Civil Conservation Core (CCC) in 1935 and worked for two years in a CCC Camp operated by Army Co. 3811 near Loraine, TX. Jack began a long career with Continental Oil Company in 1941. He worked in the Research and Development Lab in Ponca City, OK and retired in 1981 after 40 years with Conoco. Jack was a man of integrity and honor. He was a gentle soul with a loving heart and a twinkle in his eye, a man of character with a sense of humor and a ready smile. Jack had a strong commitment to God, his family and his church. He would want all his friends and family to know that his deepest desire was that they all place their faith in Jesus Christ and join him in heaven someday. He leaves a legacy of great love and faith to his family and friends. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Edith; and brother, Frank Hubbard. Jack is survived by his three daughters, Marti Hubbard and Richard Caldwell, Sr. of Huntsville, TX, Donna Barnes and husband Max of Eufaula, OK, and Mary Granberry and husband Rob of Crawford, TX; six grandchildren, Dena Miller, Dawn McCarley, Danny Miller, David Barnes and wife Patty, Susan Hookom and husband Cody and Jeff Granberry; 11 great grandchildren, Julianne Miller Clark, Josh Miller, Jeremy Miller, Evan Miller, Kelsey McCarley, Katie McCarley, Megan Halbrooks, Rachel Barnes, Jessie Barnes, Justin Moriarty and Nikki Moriarty; four great great-grandchildren and one brother, John H. Hubbard of Sioux City, IA.
Casket bearers will be David Barnes, Danny Miller, Josh Miller, Jeremy Miller, Richard Caldwell, Sr., Rob Granberry, Cody Hookom and Justin Moriarty.
