

Dr. James Walraven passed away on Wednesday morning August 9th, after a short illness. Upon graduating medical school at the University of Oklahoma James volunteered to go to Vietnam. James was an internist and cardiologist for over forty years.
James had many outside interests including a long-standing study of Spanish and German and a love of poetry, literature, history and philosophy. He practiced Karate for many years, was an avid sailor and built his own sailboat. He earned a Captains License for sailing. He was a single engine pilot. He was an avid skeet shooter and bird hunter. He also built his own fishing boat and enjoyed fishing. He was a lover of classical music and boogie-woogie.
He was a lifelong student of all these many interests and shared his love of learning with his friends. He was a devoted husband to his wife Gracie for 42 years.
He will be sorely missed by all of those who knew him and had the pleasure of his company.
Graveside service for Dr. James will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Rose Hill Burial Park Ossuary, 6001 NW Grand Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73118. (405) 843-5771.
