Janice Marie Collins

Janice was born July 23, 1938 in Herreid South Dakota to Emil Kost and Christina (Ochsner) Kost.

She was the youngest of 6 siblings. She graduated from Herreid High School.

After graduation she attended Presentation College in Aberdeen and received her Bachelors in Nursing. Upon graduation from college she and her roommate drove to California to begin working in a local hospital. While in Long Beach California, she met the love of her life, and after 6 weeks of courtship they were married in Seal Beach in December of 1962.

After getting married they moved to Edmond Oklahoma. She began working at Oklahoma Memorial Hospital which is now the University of Oklahoma Hospital. She would retire from there after 32 years as the supervisor of the operating room. Janice had two children, Cathleen Shepherd and husband Randy and Jeffrey Collins and wife Sara.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Christina, 3 sisters, Shirley, Phyllis, and Diana, and one brother Lester.

She is survived by her children, her sister Arlene and 4 grandchildren Lauren, Tina, Kaitlyn and Jeffrey II. She also has three great grandchildren, Hazel Flock, Radlee Hoffman, and Marlee Flock. And numerous nieces and nephews.

She loved cooking, traveling, reading and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church since 1963, where she volunteered in various capacities. She had several good friends from church that she enjoyed spending time with.

A visitation for Janice will be held Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034. A funeral service will occur Friday, June 23, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Peace Lutheran Church, 2600 E. Danforth Road, Edmond, OK 73034.
