

Jay Charles Simon, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and music. He was born on December 2, 1956, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Johann George Simon and Virginia Lee (Hukills) Simon.
Jay earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and built an impressive career as a senior-level Chief IT Engineer, working with companies including Dell, EMC, and IBM. He was also a former Vice President of the Oklahoma Orchid Society, reflecting his deep passion for plants and orchids.
Jay’s life was full of adventure and connection. A graduate of Yukon High School and later graduating with a bachelor’s from Letourneau University, he later lived in Chickasha, Oklahoma, where he attended USAO and met his beloved wife, Jeanie Dobry. Over the years, he also lived in Dallas, Tulsa, Phoenix, Madison, Minneapolis, and then Oklahoma City embracing new experiences and friendships along the way.
He was a man of many passions. Jay loved music deeply both creating and listening. He played in multiple band groups and found joy in artists like Jimi Hendrix, The Eagles, John Lennon, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Beatles, and John Denver. He also loved fishing, skiing, and spending time in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, where his perfect day included waking up in the mountains, hitting the slopes, and enjoying a peaceful evening fly fishing for trout.
Above all, Jay cherished his family. His wife’s smile and laughter meant everything to him, and he adored his daughter. He was known for his humor, love of comedy shows like Everybody Loves Raymond, Resident Alien, and Ghosts, and his ability to make others smile. He valued common sense, sarcasm, and patience.
Jay will be remembered as a faithful and loving husband and father, a talented musician, and a man who brought joy to those around him. His love for his family, his creativity, and his warm spirit will be deeply missed.
Jay is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Jeanie Simon, daughter Jillian Darr and husband Christopher, sisters, Joann Moorehead and Valerie Henderson, twelve nieces, and three nephews, and fur baby, Rosie

A Celebration of Life will be held at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034, on March 21, 2026, at 11:00 am.
