Jerry also served Veterans in the VA Hospital regularly. He was known for his kind bedside manner and ability to take time to fully listen. He spent his life saving others, and his patients adored him.

Jerry was also a skilled pilot, spending many hours flying all over the U.S. in his beloved Beechcraft Bonanza with his friends. He loved to travel, and especially enjoyed taking his family to Renfroes' Roost, the family cabin at Lake Eufaula Oklahoma, where his children learned to fish, water ski, and wakeboard under his patient guidance. He also enjoyed serving in the LDS church, wherever needed, in his free time.
