James (Jim) A. Davis was born in Richmond, Virginia to Mae and Ray Davis on September 26, 1955. He passed away Friday, March 17, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City at the young age of 67, after a short battle with pneumonia.
Jim graduated high school in Bowie, Maryland and he loved this beautiful state. After finishing high school, Jim graduated from Georgetown University Law School in Washington D.C. He held many positions including Garfinkel's Fine Jewelry and more recently working for the Christian Dior and Donna Karan Fragrance lines. Jim also spent time dancing and modeling professionally.
Jim spent the last 20-25 years of his life living with and selflessly caring for his mother, and was excellent caregiver and wonderful son to her. He retired and was enjoying life in his beautiful condo. Jim enjoyed working out daily as fitness and health were a primary focus in his life. He enjoyed riding bikes, playing Frisbee, yard work and flower bed care, traveling, OU and Maryland sporting events, sitting outside in the sun having a good cosmo or mojito, eating at 1492, La Baguette, Carmine’s, Big Louie’s and Sullivans. Jim also enjoyed walking and laying on the beach as well.
Jim especially loved traveling to the desert in the Coachella Valley (Palm Springs) and Singer Island, FL too. Some of his favorite trips were to the Napa Valley, Paris, France, the Jersey Shore and Hunter’s Bar in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
He was a perfectionist in all he did! Jim kept an immaculate home, car, and was organized with all medical and financials matters.
Our hearts are broken and crushed that he left us too soon and without having the chance to finish his bucket list which including buying a home and moving to Palm Springs, California.
Thanks to long time physicians, Dr. Clifford Wlodaver and assistant Robin, Dr. Lynn Baggett, Dr. Dennis Parker and the incredible nursing and respiratory and support staff at Mercy Hospital. Special thanks to Dr. Amin for her professional and personal bedside manner she exemplified. Jim was so grateful for all his care and would want all to know this.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Mae and Ray Davis and his son, Bobbie
Jim is survived by his wife of nearly 34 years, Barbara of Panama City, Florida; sister Joanie of Midwest City, Oklahoma; nephew Jason; niece Jessica, their families, and cousin Demaris.
A visitation for Jim will be held Friday, March 24, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK. A funeral service will occur Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Baggerley Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Whisler Cemetery in Deer Creek.
