What an amazing blessing it has been for 29 years to be a next door neighbor to" Pappy"......
So many wonderful hello's,  a wave and a big smile,  or if your really lucky that day,  a nice cup of hot coffee together! I will always have such fond memories of him and RJ practicing, playing and just enjoying each others company. His presence will be greatly missed........

My Paps, had the best smile and loved to laugh and have a good time. When I was a little girl he would take me with him to spray pastures in his spray rig, he taught  me how to drive a truck In those pastures, we would sit in the truck and talk about anything and everything for hours. I was truely connected to him and would do anything he wanted me to. I was always with him growing up.

 But my favorite memory is when I was going to hair school and I had a perm and some brown color. Paps was such a good sport cause I gave him the tightest perm you ever seen, with shiny new brown hair.   

I will miss our talks and late nights with popcorn and a coke watching movies. 


My dad used to take me on many of his oil well checks.   He taught me so much during that time in our lives like how to fish, how to drive, how to wave at everyone who drove by, and most of all how to be an overall good person.  

We are a lot alike; we both have tender hearts towards people and animals, love to play pool together and always like to go somewhere.  It didn’t matter where -  it could be to visit friends or go on vacation but we were always on the go.  Not only are we alike but I have also always been proud to look like my dad. 

Our world lost a precious man and I lost a piece of me, but my heart is forever blessed and grateful to have been able to be a part of his life.   Thank you God for an amazing father.  


Mr. Sooter was one of my "adopted dads". I've known Daylene since 1990-something and she has shared her family with me generously. And Mr. Sooter generously shared his horse, R.J. with me when I experienced a devastating divorce. During the weeks when I was separated from my only child I would appear at his doorstep and ask if R.J. could "play". I bathed, brushed, and braided R.J., rode him bareback in the front yard, tagged along to roping contests, and other annoying things I probably don't remember. But it was an incredibly healing time for me. I loved walking across the yard from Daylene's house to her parents and seeing if they had any food cooked or treats around. I laughed until I cried when he would rope his grandchildren's feet as they walked across the carpet. I tried to expose my child to them as much as possible so he would have a good idea what it was like to be in a loving family. I'm looking forward to seeing Mr. Sooter again in heaven so I can make sure I let him know what an impact he has had on my life, and my family's life.  Love to all of Mr. Sooter's family. May peace that passes understanding fill your days.

1 Corinthians 13:8 says love never fails and seeing all the happy times Jimmie shared with the family it holds true. When you feel down think of those good times full of love, joy and happiness.
