John’s life was marked by a deep curiosity for the world around him and a steadfast dedication to his family and community. After attending Oklahoma State University to study Audio Engineering, John began what would become a remarkable 40-year career with Channel 4 (KFOR) in Oklahoma City. His work behind the scenes helped bring news and stories into homes across the region until his retirement in 2000.
Outside his professional life, John had a passion for technology and the outdoors. He was always eager to learn something new and embraced every opportunity to explore. In the warmer months, he could often be found riding his motorcycle or traveling with his Airstream trailer. These adventures were shared with his devoted wife Beverley, who accompanied him on every journey. Their travels frequently included trips to Branson, where they were joined by John’s sister, affectionately known as Aunt Janey by the family.
In later years, John found joy in quieter moments spent in his sunroom, enjoying music while gazing out at the backyard he loved so much. His appreciation for both innovation and nature remained constant throughout his life.
John was a man who gave generously of himself. After retiring, he volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Edmond, working in the kitchen to help those in need. He was known among those who knew him as a good family man—always ready to lend a hand or offer support.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Beverley Hughes Estlinbaum; his children: John Estlinbaum and wife Teresa; Lorie Douglas (Estlinbaum); and Hugh Estlinbaum and wife Lizzy. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren: Rex Douglas and wife Phoebe; Natasha Break (McDaniel) and husband Zac; Tony Estlinbaum; Samantha Estlinbaum; Zakery Estlinbaum; and Mason Estlinbaum. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: John David, Noah, Adaline Grace, Lincoln, and Isabelle.
John was preceded in death by his daughter Mandy McDaniel (Estlinbaum), Janey Wood, his sister, and Larry Bouchelle, his brother.
A funeral service honoring John's life will be held on February 11, 2026, at Baggerley funeral home in Edmond, Oklahoma.
John George Estlinbaum Jr. will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, generous heart, and enduring love for family. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
