John Howard Staggs

John was retired from Clements Foods of Oklahoma City, where he worked as a Supervisor. Prior to that, he worked for Fox-Smythe Trucking Company as a Safety Commissioner. He was also a skilled carpenter. In his retirement, he was the author of a Children's Book (The Little Wogg Dog Space Alien), a Master Gardener, and tried his hand at stand-up comedy.

John was born on August 26, 1935 in Dibble, OK. He graduated from Dibble High School, attended the University of Oklahoma and served in the United States Navy. John lived in Blanchard, Oklahoma where he resided with his first wife, Mary Staggs and children. He then resided in Edmond, OK with his second wife, Marsi Staggs and children. He lived in Edmond for the past 35 years.

John was preceded in death by his wife Marsi Staggs, his father John H. Staggs Sr., his mother Flora Staggs and brother Troy Staggs, infant brother Donald Earl, infant grandson Ketlee Jon, and infant great grandchildren Dominic and Allison.

John is survived by longtime companion, Jolene Schwind of OKC; sons, Scott Staggs and wife, Martha, of Chickasha, OK, and Mike Thompson of Princeton, TX; daughters: Karen Carr and husband, J.R. of Kingston, OK, Denise Thompson Hooper and husband, Bill, of Mustang, OK, and Amanda Staggs of West Hollywood, CA; sister, Lola Mae Monttinger of Lindsay, OK; brothers, Raymond Staggs and wife, Helen, and Charles Talmadge Staggs and wife, Marilyn, of Lindsay, OK; grandchildren: Tavia Toles, Tara Desrochers, Jody Staggs, Matthew Palmer, Tara Thompson, Alyssa Thompson, Whitney Carr, and Karlie Carr; great-grandchildren: Tyler Toles, Kelsey Toles, Nolan Ampoloquio, Sadie Ampoloquio, Maggie Desrochers, and Amber Staggs; and a multitude of family and lifelong family friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 7 at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 S. Broadway, Edmond, OK at 10 am. Graveside service at 2pm. Dibble Cemetery, Dibble, OK. Visitation at Baggerley Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 6 from 9am to 8pm. (Family available 6pm to 8pm)
