

Mary Crown was born March 24, 1915 in Spencer, Oklahoma to Frank Joseph Vrana and Katherin Mary Hrdina and passed away September 30, 2010. She had five sisters, Emily, Helen, Angela, Edna, and Lily Anne, and one brother, Frank. She graduated from Putnam City High School and attended Hill’s Business College, where she was at the top of her class. She married George Fleming Crown in 1936. They had four children.
She was a long time resident of Edmond. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where she was a member of a rosary group. For several years, she was the manager of the Edmond Plaza Theatre.
She enjoyed life, especially dancing, bowling, and occasionally going to the horse races and playing the slot machines with her sisters. She loved and was dedicated to her friends and family. She was a member of a group of friends that would gather each morning and have coffee.
Her parents, her sisters Angela and Edna, and her brother Frank precede her in death.
Her children, Joe Crown of Edmond, Marvin Crown of Heber Springs, Arkansas, James Crown of Norman, and Catherine Dame of Norman survive her. Her sisters, Emily Lightner of Oklahoma City, Helen Kastl of Abilene, Texas, and Lily Anne Whittaker of Oklahoma City also survive her. Mary has nine grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Wake services will be at Baggerley Funeral Home of Edmond on Monday, October 4 at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be at St. John the Baptist, October 5 at 2:00 P.M.
