Mildred was born in Wheeling, Missouri, on September 14, 1926, to Andrew and Etta Clark. She was the youngest of six with her four brothers Russell, Ralph, Aubrey and Wade, and her sister Annabel, preceding her in death. Growing up on a farm during the Depression wasn’t easy, and after her father passed away when she was 9, it was even more difficult, but she had many fond memories of her generous and sweet family. She learned how to work hard and had a strong faith in God.
After graduating from Wheeling High School, she moved to St. Louis and worked as a secretary for UFS&G Insurance and then Truscon Windows before transferring to Oklahoma City with Truscon. Millie married Dale B Whybark in 1956, and they had two children, Dale Lee and Gail Ann.
Millie was a preschool teacher at Village Christian Church for several years and then a preschool music teacher at the Hickman Music School. She loved china painting, playing bridge, singing in the church choir, and playing with her grandchildren. In her later years she was a resident of Teal Ridge in Edmond and then University Village in Tulsa where she made many friends and always enjoyed participating in activities.
She is survived by her son, Dale L. Whybark; daughter, Gail A Gillock and husband Tom; and grandchildren: Kimberly D. Gillock, Robert D. Gillock and wife Nicole, and Arthur S. Whybark.
Graveside services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery (Pennsylvania entrance) 10:00 am Thursday, June 11, 2015.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Britton Christian Church 922 NW 91st St, Oklahoma City, OK 73114 or the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association 1 Billy Graham Pkwy, Charlotte, NC 28201-0001.
