Patsy did not hide her talents under a barrel. Instead, she shared her beautiful voice with others by singing in the church choir, sometimes singing solos or duets. She brought joy to many people in her extended family by having a Sing-Song during the Christmas season each year. Patsy played the piano and family members gathered around her to enjoy singing the old familiar Christmas carols.
Patsy was born in Clinton, Arkansas and moved to Borger, Texas in 1937 when she was a small child. She graduated from Borger High School. After graduation she attended McMurray College in Abilene, Texas. Then, she went to Oklahoma City University on a saxophone scholarship and became a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. While in college, she met her husband, James Howard Bryan. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2013.
Patsy had a varied work history, much of it in an office environment. She was the office manager for a battery of doctors in Lufkin, Texas. To broaden her work experience, she worked with her sister in The Basket Barn, a gift, gourmet, and packed basket shop. They had a lot of fun creating baskets and sneaking out some chocolates from the baskets. She worked for many years for her brother, Milton Deason, in the Oil and Gas Production business.
She loved to read and go with her siblings and their spouses to Branson, MO, a couple of times a year and to Arkansas every fall to enjoy the gorgeous colors of the trees. Like her parents, she had a great appreciation for the beauty of God’s Creation. She loved her church family and was a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church of Edmond.
Patsy was preceded in death by her father, Roscoe H. Deason and mother, Grace (Willock) Deason.
She is survived by her husband, James Howard Bryan of Edmond; son, James David Bryan and wife, Diane Dee (Crawford) of Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Suzi Bryan of Edmond; grandchildren: James Murphy Bryan and wife, Marisa of Beatty, NV; Chris Crawford of San Diego, CA; Shiloh Larzik of Las Vegas, NV. Patsy is also survived by her brother, Milton W. Deason and wife, Patricia of Edmond; and sister, Polly D. Hutson and husband, Truman of Edmond. Other survivors include her three great-grandchildren and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Donations can be made in Patsy’s name to the National Kidney Foundation or The First United Methodist Church of Edmond’s Choir.
