Phillip Cleve Rider, born September 19, 1940, in Binger, Oklahoma lived a life grounded in faith, family, hard work, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. Raised on a farm, Phil learned early the values of dedication, resilience, and loyalty that would define him throughout his life. He attended Binger High School and later met the love of his life, Marie. Together they built a beautiful life and shared 58 years of devoted and loving marriage.
Phil was one of nine children born to Austin and Valonia Rider and was the last surviving sibling. He was preceded in death by his beloved brothers and sisters: Twila Church, Nola Crick, Izetta Richardson, Wanda Catlin, Burl Rider, Walt Rider, Donna Erickson, and Joyce Kerbo. Growing up in a large family shaped his strong sense of connection and his lifelong love of storytelling and togetherness.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Marie Rider; his daughters, Ashlie Furseth and Erin Allen; his son-in-law, Matt Allen; and his five cherished grandchildren: Hailey Furseth, Montanna Furseth, Lilly Allen, Hannah Allen, and Rider Allen. His grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life, and nothing brought him more happiness than supporting and spending time with them.
Phil proudly served in the National Army Reserves for six years and carried that same sense of discipline and pride throughout his life. He dedicated forty years of hard work to Safeway and later retired from Fleming Foods in 2002.
Phil had a passion for working dogs, hunting, fishing, sports, horses, and rodeo. He loved coaching soccer, cheering on his favorite teams, watching old western movies, and hunting for bargains at garage sales. A true storyteller at heart, Phil could captivate any room with stories full of humor, heart, and wisdom. He was always willing to give advice, whether it was wanted or not.
Phil will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and a man who valued faith, family, and hard work above all else. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished and the countless memories he created.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Baggerley Funeral Home, located at 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034, United States. The service is scheduled for February 17, 2026, at 11:00 am.
