Terri Lyn Thomas went to be with The Lord on Friday, February 6, 2026. She was a devoted wife, mother, Nonni, daughter and sister who dearly loved God and her family. She was born on December 30, 1968 in Edmond, Oklahoma to Charles Slack and Jean Griffin. She was the baby of four children - the big surprise! Terri was saved in her early 20’s and was a devoted follower of Christ. She had her daily ‘coffee and Jesus time’, and would warn you at the door if she had missed either one that day. She loved the years she spent in her Bible Study Fellowship groups (BSF) through New Covenant & the First Presbyterian Church of Edmond. She attended Russell Dougherty, Clegern Elementary, Edmond Memorial Junior High & High School and was a proud Bulldog. Following graduation, in 1987, Terri married Shawn Michael Thomas, and they had their only daughter, Emily Jade (Thomas) Wieland, in 1988. Terri’s favorite job was being a mother, and later, grandmother (Nonni) to her three grand girls, Macy, Olivia and Hattie.
Terri loved spending time with friends and family, and made everyone she spent time with feel important. She was a loyal friend to many, remembered for her unique personality, sense of humor and her laugh. Terri loved to dance, sing, attend concerts and listening to just about every genre of music. She was an animal lover, but not just her own animals, she visited the zoo often with her grandchildren and loved horseback riding. She always had fun activities to do with the girls, like planting gardens, growing her own herbs and spices, having homemade pizza night and frequenting the Oklahoma City Museum of Art for their newest exhibits. She enjoyed learning about world history, geography, politics and often watched documentaries about a plethora of things from musical artists to the Holy Land. In her later years, she developed a love for Pilates and would attend class at a few local studios. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Shawn, and they visited many places together, including Colorado, California, Hawaii, the Bahamas and spent many summers at Grand Lake in Prior, Oklahoma, with their family and friends. Terri and Shawn traveled the Midwest for several Corvette rallies and attended many local car events and shows. She was a huge supporter of all of Shawn’s endeavors and her favorite place to be was by his side. Terri and Shawn have been married for 38 years, together for 40, until she took her final breath.
Terri lived her whole life in Edmond, Oklahoma. She was a strong, prayer warrior to her friends and family, and said that watching Emmy’s family grow was her greatest joy in life. Her strong faith carried her through many seasons of life and her prayers will live on for generations.
Terri often quoted, “Glance at yourself, gaze at the Lord,” and, “The less the words, the more the meaning.” Her example of strength, unwavering faith, love, hope and peace that passes all understanding will shine through those she leaves behind as she always strived to love and live like Jesus.
Terri was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Chuck Slack, Donna Stewart and Eddie Slack of Edmond, OK. She is survived by her husband Shawn, daughter Emmy and son-in-law Blake of Edmond, OK, and three grandchildren, Macy, Olivia and Hattie.
Terri will be laid to rest at Pleasant Hill Cemetery located at 4024 E Waterloo Rd prior to her memorial service. The memorial service will be held at Baggerley Funeral Home at 4 p.m., on Wednesday, February 11th, 2026. Reception to follow with family, friends, food and memories.
