Thomas Wayne Rickman was born on March 3, 1936, in Cherokee Oklahoma to Henry Theodore Rickman and Dora Elizabet Peterson Rickman. Thomas was a bright and delightful child. Thomas graduated from Cherokee High School in 1955, and again in 1959 from Northwestern State University, where he earned a double major in Biology & Chemistry. Thomas also attended Oklahoma University. Thomas worked for 30 years at the Oklahoma State Department of Health, supervising Bacteriology and Mycology until retirement in 1995. Thomas celebrated a publication in the Journal of Clinical Microbiology, in the June 1980 Issue.
Thomas was united with his love, Joyce Driver in matrimony for over 30 years. He was a wonderful family man and friend to many. Thomas loved to spend time with family and he was especially fond of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a faithful member of Crossroads Church in Oklahoma City, OK, where he had close friends who cared deeply for him.
Thomas Wayne Rickman was called home to be with the Lord on February 18, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Driver Rickman; parents, Henry Theodore Rickman and Dora Elizabet Rickman; brother, Vincent Erwin Rickman; aunts: Gertrude Peterson Martin, Irene Rialto, Ida Etta Hughey Rickman, Swan Peterson, and Anna Erika Jernell Peterson; and uncle, James Thomas Rickman. Thomas is survived by 2 brothers, Michael Rickman Family and William “Bill” Rickman & Family; sons, Tyrus Oates and Loy Driver; daughters, Valerie Clytus and Stephanie Johnson; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Thomas Wayne Rickman, we will miss you but never forget you.
