Tom was a man from very humble beginnings. With the help of his beloved OSU, a football scholarship and a coach who believed in him, a young man who lived in a tent in Davis, Oklahoma became a successful entrepreneur generous to a fault to his family and others in need. He never expected a thank you or any acknowledgment. He presented a scholarship to OSU in his mother’s honor. Although uneducated herself, his mother instilled in him a strong work ethic and the importance of an education. It was his wish to give some other young person a start in life. He came when anyone called and always with a smile on his face. He loved a good joke even when the joke was on him. He was quick witted and fun to be around. He made us laugh. He was devoted to OSU and the Cowboys and never wavered even in the years when the wins were few and far between. He always knew they would make a comeback. He loved the game of golf. He played whenever he could and never tired of a round of golf even if he didn’t win. It was more fun when he didn’t keep score. His white hair, smiling face and heartfelt greeting made it impossible for anyone who ever met him to forget him. If there is a Wal-Mart in heaven, Tom will be running Me Maw over there every day. We didn’t get to say “good-bye” but one day when we meet again, we will say: “Hello, Tom. We’ve been missing you.” Memorial Services will be 10:00am Friday, April 24, 2015 at Oakdale Baptist Church.
