Wanda Ione Voss

Wanda Ione Voss, age 87 of Edmond, went to be with the Lord February 22, 2010, after a long illness of Alzheimer’s disease. She was born October 29, 1922 to Robert Luther and Susie Ione (Peek) Neighbors in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Wanda was the 8th grade valedictorian at Rock Mound School and attended Edmond High School. She worked for 28 years at UCO and held various positions such as Executive Secretary of VP Academic Affairs and set up and ran “Talk Back TV classes.” Wanda married Doyl W. Voss December 12, 1941 who preceded her in death January of 1996. She attended First Baptist Church of Edmond and taught Sunday school for 6 years olds for 27 years.

Wanda is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Sue “Susie” Cotton; son, Bill Dwayne Voss; three grandchildren, Bobbi S. Cotton, Lester M. Cotton and Kayla R. Voss; two great-grandchildren, Ajaysa and Aliya. She is also survived by two brothers, Fred R. Neighbors and wife Maria, Paul J. Neighbors and wife Elaine, nieces and nephews.

Memorials in Wanda’s name may be made to, Sooner Hospice, 2212 NW 50th St., Ste. 1432, Oklahoma City, OK 73112. Viewing will be from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond.
