William A. Spence, 69, born in Hutchinson, Kansas. He went to be with our Lord and Savior, Monday April 10, 2017. A resident of Edmond, Oklahoma, he was a loving Husband, a dedicated Father, a compassionate Counselor, a loyal Friend and an energetic Entrepreneur. While serving our country in the Vietnam War, Bill distinguished himself during Enlistment in the Navy from 1965-1973. After thirty-five years working in the business sector, most recently at Clear Channel Communication (Now IHEart Radio), Bill’s passion to help marriages and people struggling with emotional pain led him to a ministry of counseling others. That decision resulted in his completion of an MS in Counseling Psychology at Southern Nazarene University and becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor. His wisdom and quiet disposition as well as his entrepreneurial spirit culminated in the opening of Transforming Life Counseling Center. A dream he and his Partners shared. TLCC continues to impact thousands of lives through the twenty five counselors working there. Through supervision of novice counselors, his work as an Adjunct Professor at Southern Nazarene University and his involvement assisting Life Church with assessing and developing their clergy staff, he will continue to leave a legacy of ministry to his community.
He is survived by his wife, JoLee who through their marriage of 40 years served with him in ministry to others; along with his daughter Keri Jo Lambert and her husband Tim Lambert and their children Hannah, Nathan, Jordan and Tabitha; Son, Brian William Spence and his wife Sarah and their children Teeghan, Taylor, Jacob and Colin and Carter Rosenberg; Sister and Brother in law Judy and Mike Eurton; Joy and Richard Dutton, Twila Miller, Clayton Thomas and many nieces, nephews and their children.
Many would say along with Henri Nouwen, “When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand.” Bill embodied that in our lives.
