December 19, 1929 – January 12, 2012
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Arthur Nichols.
Art was born in Winnipeg, MB and moved to Edmonton in the early 60’s with the love of his life, Mae, and his 2 children; Donna and Donald. There he made many good friends and enjoyed life to the fullest while becoming a successful independent siding salesman. Art was awarded an exclusive contract to sell metal roofing in Alberta and ventured off into other building products.
Never one to not have something “on the go”, in retirement he and his wife Mae started Mae’s Mini Doughnuts and traveled throughout Alberta to festivals and rodeos selling doughnuts and partaking in the festivities.
His sunny disposition and quick humour drew people to him. His determination to make the best of every day and every situation kept them there. A horse racing enthusiast, music lover and great dancer in his younger days, Art had a joy of life about him.
Left to mourn his loss are his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Peter Bennell, son, Donald Nichols, and grandchildren, Sydney, Arthur and Nicholas Bennell.
Cremation has taken place. A private service will be held in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Kidney Foundation, #101, 10642-178 Street, Edmonton, AB T5S 1H4 or the Edmonton Humane Society, 13620-163 Street NW, Edmonton, AB T5V 0B2.
