Barney Sigurdson

He was born in Vidir, Manitoba, an Icelandic community in the Interlake District, to Jon and Sigrun Sigurdson. Jon was the Reeve of the Municipality of Bifrost. Barney had a twin sister, Helga, and 11 other siblings, all who predeceased him.

Left to mourn his passing are: his beloved wife of 65 years, Dorothy (Barlow); his much loved children, Karen (Eric), Lori, and Curtis (Michelle); his treasured grandchildren, Adam (Brittany), Maxwell (Emily), Natalie (Alex), Lauren (Josh), Carl, Wade, and Benjamin; his great-grandchildren, Lyla, Fraser, Harrison and Jasper; his sister-in-law, Beth Merta of Camrose; and his many nieces and nephews. Close family friends Cathy, Frank and Mary (Jimmy) were also special to Barney, as were Robert Scott and Michael Schouten.

Barney owned and operated Valleyview Sheet Metal Ltd. for over 30 years, installing furnaces and air-conditioning. He was a hard worker and a loyal friend to all who knew him.

A celebration of Barney’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on August 7, 2022 at Hainstock’s Funeral Home, 9810 34 Avenue NW, Edmonton AB.
