Bertha Gene Collins

It is with great sadness that the family of Bertha Jean Collins of St. Albert, Alberta announce her passing at the age of 76 years. She was born to Archie and Thelma Asseltine (Parkes) in Iona Station, Ontario on February 26, 1934, and passed away October 10, 2010 in Edmonton, Alberta.

Bertha is lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years, Wyman; her seven children and their families. Bertha’s beloved children and spouses include Tracey and husband Peter (VanBeek) and their daughter Shoukia; Colleen and her husband Blaine (Winder) and their children Amanda and Ryan; MaryAnne and her husband Raymond (Constantin) and their children and spouses Philip and Christine, Vivian and David, Lillian, Patrick and Rebecca, and Marcel and Hailey; Gerard and his wife Chelley Collins and their children and spouses Chantel and Stephen, Marissa, and Ryan; Margaret and her husband Graham (Macaulay) and their daughter Chelsea; Stephen; and Gregory and his wife Debbie Collins and their children Nick, Stephanie, Katerina, and Joe; as well as numerous relatives and friends.

Bertha devoted her life to living well, laughing hard, loving big, and had a hug for everyone. She touched the lives of countless people during her life. She is with the angels now. We will meet her again on the other side.

Families and friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Memories Funeral Home, 13403 St. Albert Trail, from 7-9 pm.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Albert Catholic Church, 7 St. Vital Avenue on Friday, October 15, 2010, at 10:00 am.

Internment will take place in the family burial plot in Villeneuve Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bertha’s memory may be made to the St. Albert Catholic Women`s League.
