Charles (Chaitan) Ponde

His courageous fight with cancer ended October 4, 2022; his last days spent in the continuous company of his loving family and friends.

In his 82 years, Charlie played many roles, but none more meaningful to him than that of husband, father, grandfather and brother. Charlie is survived by his loving wife Brenda, daughter Monica (Surendra), granddaughter Divya, grandson Harsh, and sister Chaya. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends - old and new, in Canada, India, USA and the UK.

The family is forever grateful to the many medical professionals that supported Charlie and the family through the past many months, most especially his general physician, oncologist and dedicated, compassionate staff at the Cross Cancer Institute and Grey Nuns Hospital Palliative Unit.

A private cremation will be conducted prior to a public Memorial Service on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Memories Funeral Home, 13403 St. Albert Trail, Edmonton.

To honor Charlie, we ask that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
