

Claudette Merle Nero, age 83, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Born on September 13, 1941, in Barataria, Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago, Claudette lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and unwavering faith.
Claudette began her education at Barataria Elementary before continuing to Johnson Commercial School, where she completed training in typing and shorthand. Her passion for helping others led her to pursue a career in healthcare. After relocating to Canada, she completed her training as a Psychiatric Nursing Aide in Manitoba. She went on to dedicate more than 25 years of service to Alberta Hospital, where her commitment and excellence were recognized with an award honoring her long-standing contributions.
Her professional life was defined by care and empathy. As a mental health nurse aide, Claudette touched countless lives with her gentle demeanor and steadfast dedication. Her colleagues and patients alike remembered her for the kindness she extended to everyone she met.
Beyond her career, Claudette was known for her vibrant personality and joyful spirit. She had a distinctive sense of style that reflected her individuality and zest for life. She found joy in shopping, singing, dancing, watching movies, and spending time with family—activities that brought warmth and laughter into the lives of those around her.
Faith played a central role in Claudette’s life. She was a devoted member of Beulah Church and often traveled to Calgary with her congregation for conventions. Her love for scripture was evident in the way she read her Bible and sang hymns with heartfelt devotion.
Claudette’s legacy lives on through her loving family: daughter Ingrid-Ann Woolaston; son-in-law Ronald Woolaston; brothers Everitte Nero, Andrew Nero, Carsile Nero, Errol Nero, and Arnim Nero; sister Joicelyn Caruth; grandchildren Tanisha Charles, Dorcas Woolaston, Natashia Woolaston, Stephan Woolaston, and Horace Woolaston; great-grandchildren Tah'Shy Runcie and Tavon Grant-Charles; as well as many nieces and nephews who cherished her deeply.
She is reunited in peace with her siblings Neville Nero, Gloria Orr, and AnnMarie Welch.
Claudette Merle Nero will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the strength of her beliefs, and the joy she brought into every room she entered.
