Born in Edmonton AB on January 29, 1959, to parents, Milton and Colleen Morrow; Darrell grew up on a farm east of Sherwood Park in Deville, which has been in the family for over 100 years.
He played hockey for the Saint Albert Saints and graduated from Ardrossan High School. He went on to play right wing for the Denver Pioneers while attending the University of Denver, where he received a bachelor’s degree in finance. After graduating university, he played on the Oilers farm team, and was an active member of the Oilers alumni until his passing. Darrell worked for Remax as a realtor for 38 years. He enjoyed many activities, but his true passions were hockey and fishing, only second to his children Braede and Matthew. Darrell was a loving father, great coach and a loyal friend. His quick wit, wicked sense of humor and amazing storytelling abilities never failed to light up a room. He was the epitome of the saying “Gone Fishing”, and never turned down an opportunity to be on the lake, at the rink or with his family. He will be dearly missed by many but the wonderful memories and stories brightened by his presence in them will live within our hearts and memories forever.
Darrell is predeceased by his mother, Colleen Morrow. He is survived by his children Braede and Matthew Morrow, Father Milton Morrow, and his siblings Susan (Kevin) Stewart, David (Cheryl) Morrow, Colleen Morrow-Emslie, John (Tara) Morrow, Sandra (Dave) Candido, and numerous nieces and nephews.
His service will be held on Saturday, August 3rd at 2pm at Hainstock’s Funeral Home 9810 34th Avenue NW. For those who are unable to attend in-person, there will be a livestream of the service available at: https://view.oneroomstreaming.com/index.php?data=MTcyMjI4NjUzMzMyMTA0NyZvbmVyb29tLWFkbWluJmNvcHlfbGluaw==
In Lieu of flowers, please donate to the Fisheries Freshwater Restocking Agency to replace all the populations Darrell did a number on through his prolific fishing career (just kidding). Please send any donations to KidSport, an organization that aids in removing the funding barrier to sports for children under 18.
