Edwin Karl Winkler was born on November 6, 1953, in Princeton, British Columbia. In 1956, his family moved to Barrhead, where he attended Meadowview School from Grades 1 through 9. Ed left school in Grade 10 and moved to Swan Hills which marked the start of a lifelong career built on hard work and dedication.
On April 9, 1977, Ed married the love of his life, Donna, and together they built a beautiful life and family. Shortly after, he founded Ed’s Maintenance Services, a business that reflected his strong work ethic and determination. Ed and Donna welcomed their son, Curtis Winkler, in 1978, and their daughter, Carmen Winkler, in 1980.
After he retired from the oil field, he got into his second love, cars! He bought Tontine Motors in Barrhead and sold it 2007/08 before the economy crashed, he was always grateful how that timing worked out.
In 1989, the family relocated to Red Deer, where they spent many wonderful years before moving to Edmonton in 2019. The last six years in Edmonton were among Ed’s happiest - spent with his beloved grandkids, cheering at soccer games, attending dance recitals, and gathering for family dinners every Sunday.
