Elsa Iris Gutierrez

Elsa nació el 8 de octubre de 1948 en Rancagua, Chile, y fue reconocida como el corazón de la familia Gutiérrez. Una amorosa madre y abuela (“nana”), cuya calidez, fortaleza y sabia serenidad moldearon la vida de quienes la rodeaban. Su hogar fue siempre un lugar de consuelo, risas y brazos abiertos, donde familiares y amigos se sentían bienvenidos. Elsa tenía un don especial para reunir a las personas, ya fuera alrededor de la mesa, durante las festividades o en los simples momentos cotidianos que ella convertía en recuerdos inolvidables. Su presencia fue el lazo que mantuvo unidas a varias generaciones, y su legado de amor, unidad y bondad vivirá para siempre en todos los que la conocieron.

Elsa fue precedida en muerte por su madre, Sara Montoya, y su abuela, Brunlinda Montoya. Le sobreviven su esposo de 58 años, Manuel Gutiérrez Santana; su hermana, Cecilia Romero; sus hermanos, Ricardo, Tito, Guillermo y Ernesto Martínez; su hija, Elsie Chabot; y su hijo, Manuel A. Gutiérrez, junto a su esposa María. El legado de Elsa continúa vivo en todos sus nietos y bisnietos: Andy, Alejandra, Anthony, Danika, Sabrina, Raymond, Jackson y Nico.

El servicio fúnebre se llevará a cabo el 16 de agosto, a las 2:00 p. m., en 9810 34 Ave, Edmonton, AB. Habrá una ceremonia formal seguida de una recepción con refrigerios y bebidas.

Aunque las flores son bienvenidas y profundamente apreciadas, si desea honrar a Elsa en lugar de flores, se pueden realizar donaciones a la Asociación Canadiense de Diabetes en su memoria.

Elsa Iris Gutierrez Montoya, age 76, of Edmonton, AB, Canada, passed away on August 7, 2025 at the University of Alberta Hospital, surrounded by a room full of loved ones.

Elsa was born October 8, 1948 in Rancagua, Chile and was known as the heart of the Gutierrez family. A loving mother, and nana, whose warmth, strength, and quiet wisdom shaped the lives of those around her. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and open arms, where family and friends always felt welcome. Elsa had a special gift for bringing people together, whether it was around the dinner table, during holidays, or simply in everyday moments that she made into cherished memories. Her presence was the glue that held generations close, and her legacy of love, unity, and kindness will live on in all who knew her.

Elsa was predeceased by her mother Sara Montoya, and her grandmother Brunlinda Montoya. Elsa is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years - Manuel Gutierrez Santana; her siblings: Cecilia, Ricardo, Tito, Guillermo, Ernesto; her children: Elsie Chabot and Manuel A. Gutierrez alongside his wife Maria; Elsa’s legacy lives on in all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Andy, Alejandra, Anthony, Danika, Sabrina, Raymond, Jackson, and Nico.

A funeral service will be held on August 16, at 2PM at 9810 34 Ave, Edmonton, AB. There will be a formal ceremony followed by a reception with light snacks and refreshments to follow.

While flowers are welcomed and greatly appreciated, if you would like to honor Elsa in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association in Elsa’s memory.
