It is with great sadness that the family announces that on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, Floyd Olaf Williams passed away in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 88.
Floyd was predeceased by his daughter, Debbie Stewart.
Floyd will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Blanche, of 68 years; daughter, Marsha (Don) of Cochrane, sons; Donald (Miriam) of Leduc; Ronald (June) of Sooke, BC; David (Mirium) of Ponoka, Perry (Mary) of Panama and Bob Stewart of Edmonton; as well as seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Floyd, a hard worker, started his career with the Arctic Ice company and then worked for the City of Edmonton. The early years he spent coaching Blanche and his children in their sports endeavours especially ball and hockey, two of his favorites. He loved the outdoors and spent many summers hunting and fishing. As well, he partnered with Blanche, in the garden sharing their produce with family and friends. This was a favorite pastime. Family card nights, especially, poker were always enjoyed. In his retirement, he spent many hours in his garage fixing and repairing all types of engines. People thought of him a small engine genius.
Floyd will be remembered for his quiet, calming disposition and the countless hours he spent helping family and friends. He was loved and respected, a devoted husband and father.
In keeping with Floyd’s wishes, there will be a private family celebration of his life to be held at a later date. His family would like to thank the staff at the Kipnes Centre for Veterans for the kind and gentle care they provided for Floyd’s final three years and four months.
