Frederick Peter Smilski

We sadly announce the passing of our dear father, Fred (Frederick) Smilski on April 26, 2025, in Edmonton, AB.

He was born in Dauphin, MAN. on November 26, 1929. He married Nancy Derhak on January 10, 1953, and had four children: Patricia, Raymond, Diana and Donna.

He moved his family to Vernon, BC in 1966, and became the owner of Toppers Cleaners. He soon gained the reputation of being very well liked and respected, as he involved himself in community and service clubs such as The Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, The Lions Club (of which he was President for many years).

He also volunteered at the Federal Business Development Bank to support young upcoming entrepreneurs. As well he volunteered, and held executive positions at the Schubert Senior Centre well into his eighties.

He was predeceased by his wife Nancy in June 2020, and his son Raymond in January 1986. He is survived by loving daughters, Patricia, Diana and Donna. He is remembered and much loved by grandchildren: Aaron (Allyson), Amy (Kevin), Kimberly (Adam), Sasha, Ryan, Kayla (Evan) and great-grandchildren Lily, Lacy, Cason, Finley and Oliver.

He passed peacefully surrounded by loving family, including niece Barbara (Jim) and nephew Doug (Karen).

Dear Dad...you enjoyed a long and fulfilling life...may you rest in Peace.
