Harvey was born in Langenburg Saskatchewan to Camiel and Philomena Decock. He was the youngest of 5 boys who were born and raised to be farmers.
Harvey left Saskatchewan after high school to help his oldest brother Jack in the oilfield industry, which is when he met Marilyn, who became his wife and mother of his three children. They chose to purchase a farm in Marilyn's hometown of Manville, Alberta where they raised their 3 children. He later married Lois approximately 30 years ago. He had the following Children and Grandchildren:
Bradley Dean Decock - March 23, 1970 - July 29, 1989
Cindy Lynn Decock -1973, daughter Shaelynn Rhea DeCock -1994
Joseph Camiel DeCock – 1970, wife Janice Gillacio and stepdaughter
Harvey is also survived by his stepchildren:
Donald Anthony Wimperis and wife Janelle Wimperis and 3 children Blake, Kallen, and Elle.
Karin Dawn Wimperis and her two children Amanda and Cody.
Harvey was undeniably a fighter, a founder, and a leader. He had a spirit of overcoming obstacles, challenges, and fears beyond many people's comprehension. He was intelligent, innovative, motivating, steadfast and successful.
Harvey career in the oil field started with power tongs in the late 70's and then he expanded his oilfield business to include offshore drilling. He set out to develop oilfield innovations while offshore drilling in Nova Scotia and was very successful. He returned to Alberta in 1988. While back in Alberta he was involved in a life changing motor vehicle accident in 1999 where he was rendered a quadriplegic. This did not deter him though and he continued to live life to the fullest in his professional and personal life. He became the Canadian Vice President of Canadian Paraplegic Association and opened his own society to help the physically challenged. Harvey and Lois bought a retreat in Spain where they spent many a winter with their friends overseas and enjoyed traveling the world together.
There will be no service or memorial and donations to the Quadriplegic Association of Canada in Harvey's name would be appreciated.
Harvey will be forever remembered. Always loved and NEVER forgotten.
