Jorge Ramos Saquing

Jorge Ramos Saquing, age 71, of Edmonton, Alberta, passed away on March 3, 2026.

Jorge was born on April 6, 1954 in Garita, Cabagan, Isabela, Philippines, to Juana Ramos and Luciano Saquing. He helped his family on their rice farm and attended Samson Institute of Technology, where he completed training in automotive mechanics. Jorge immigrated to Canada in 1994 with his mother, joining some of his siblings in Edmonton. He later worked as a housekeeper for the Best Western Hotel for nine years.

Jorge was known for being the life of the party and a natural entertainer who brought joy and laughter wherever he went. He loved gathering with family and friends, often sharing his talents as an excellent cook and storyteller. A deeply devoted family member, Jorge was always willing to lend a helping hand, especially when it came to caring for and babysitting his nieces and nephews. He had a warm, generous spirit and often could be heard saying his well-known catchphrase, “Yahoo.” His kindness, and vibrant personality left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

In his later years at Allen Grey Continuing Care Centre, after suffering a stroke, Jorge continued to cherish time with his loved ones. Family and friends visited often to spend time with him, share meals, and keep him company, and his warm presence and joyful spirit remained unchanged.

Jorge is survived by his siblings Benito (Renee), Domingo (Aida), Letty (the late Cefredo), Mary (Lorne), Rudy (Mila), Lolit (Recto), and Susan (Francis), along with many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Juana and Luciano; his brothers Francisco and Pedro; his sister-in-law Lita; and his nephew JR.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Allen Grey Continuing Care Centre and its dedicated staff for the compassionate support and care they provided Jorge over the past 19 years.

A Viewing and Memorial Service will be held on March 10th at 6:00-9:00 PM at Hainstock Funeral Home & Crematorium (9810 34th Ave).

The Funeral Viewing (9:30 AM) and Mass Service (10:30 AM) will be held on March 11th at The Catholic Parish of Corpus Christi (2707 34th St).
