Kang In Kim, 75, of Edmonton, Alberta passed away peacefully at home on June 13, 2019 after a brave and courageous battle against brain cancer. He was born on October 8, 1943 in Kaesong, North Korea. He served in the South Korean army from 1962-1965 and shortly after moved to Germany to work as a welder. There he met Kil-Ja Choi, a nurse, in 1968. They were married next year on May 24, 1969. They travelled all over Europe before moving to Toronto, Ontario in August 1969 and started a family. They also lived in Langley, British Columbia for 6 years before finally settling in Edmonton, Alberta in 1987.
Kang In was devoted to his family. He loved the outdoors and was an avid golfer. He enjoyed skiing and loved nothing more than spending time with his grandkids. He was always there for his family and provided the best for them in every way.
He is survived by his wife Kil-Ja Kim who he was married to for 50 years; his daughter Janet Fraser of Johnstown, New York married to Albert Fraser along with their four girls; Tyese, Naomi, Eliana and Olivia, his daughter Ann Kim of Vancouver, British Columbia, married to C.K. Lee and their two girls; Kiera and Maddy and his son Victor Kim of Edmonton, Alberta married to Van Vo Kim and their two girls; Nèves and Nyla. Other surviving relatives are Un Sook Rhee, Kang Wok Kim, Un Kyung Kim and Moon Won Kim.
Kang In is predeceased by his parents Baik-Bong Kim and Un Nam Yoo; and his brother Kang Sun Kim.
