

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Owen Anderson (K.O. Anderson) on December 27, 2020 at the age of 90. Ken lived a full and faithful life devoted to Jehovah God and passed peacefully with a wonderful hope of future promises from his God. As a dedicated witness of Jehovah for over 68 years, his spiritual focus and strong faith is an encouraging and comforting example for his family and friends.
Beloved husband of Nina for 64 years, loving father of Gail (Chris), Owen (Yvonne) and David (Wendy) and grandfather of Andrew (Rachael), Matthew (Colleen), Jordan; Cody (Jessica), Brook, Cassidy (M’kenzie); Allie and Emerson plus five great grandchildren Asa, Rey, Henry, William and Ethan. Ken is the last surviving child of the Emil and Elivira Anderson family who were early Bible Students in the Calmar area.
Ken graduated from the University of Alberta in 1953. K.O Anderson, Professor Emeritus of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta, started as a Sessional Lecturer in 1956, then became an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering in August, 1957. For over 45 years, his major academic and research interests were in asphalt pavement technology, asphalt cement and the effects of asphalt mix design and low temperature cracking in roads, highways and airports. He was the co-author of around 100 scientific and technical publications. As a trusted advisor, friend, and mentor, he helped countless colleagues, graduate students and undergraduate students in their engineering studies and professional careers within the transportation industry in Canada and around the world.
His family would like to extend special thanks to the caregiver staff at Bayshore Home Health Care and St Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital in Edmonton who helped him during the past months. In memory of KO Anderson and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation (www.albertacancer.ca), Watchtower Bible & Tract Society Worldwide Work (www.jw.org) or the charity of your choice.
