Dear Mr. and Mrs. Witte, Randy & Nathalie, and Pam and family - I'm not sure if you remember me, but I'm Art and Lorraine Plummer's daughter, Lisa.  I have only recently heard the news of Les' passing, so I am very sorry for not being there for his funeral, and for the difficult times that have followed for all of you as you grieve.  It seems like I remember Les the same way all of the other guest book signatures did - bright smile, crazy sense of humor, enthusiastic nature, and I, for some reason, remember that he was an avid country music fan.  I have lots of great memories with both Les and you, Randy - in Rabbit Lake.  Where there were Ballachays, there were the Witte boys.  I can't imagine how difficult this is for all of you.  I send my most sincere condolences to your entire family on behalf of Art, Lorraine, and "the Plummer Girls".  Please let me know if there is anything I can offer that would be helpful.

I worked with Les and Joanna at the Research Council and am very sad to hear of his death. He was a good man and will certainly be missed by family and many friends, including me.

I am shocked & saddened to hear that Les has passed away.  I worked with Les during the good old ARC Biotech days & remember fondly the laughs we shared.  My deepest condolences to Joanna & the rest of his family.

My heart is heavy with the news of Les passing. I worked with Les at ARC 18 years ago. I will always remember Les with a smile on his face. If I was having a bad day, all I needed to see was his smile and everything would be better. My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of sorrow.

We met Les in 1969 - a sweet lovable little boy who spent so much time with our son Brad.  The two boys were always together doing all the things that little boys love to do.  They attempted to build a go-kart using an old motor someone gave them.  When that didn't work they pushed each other in the go-kart up and down the alley.  In the winter they would play hockey in the basement and we could hear the puck slapping the net for hours at a time.  
As a little boy, Les had trouble pronouncing some letters so there were times that our son had to interpret what Les was say.  Les would just stand back and grin and that beautiful smile would melt your heart.
As the boys grew older they discovered golf together and we'd watch them hoist their golf bags onto their backs and head for the bus to go to the Riverside golf course.  Later on they rode their bikes to the Highlands golf course.  
Over the years we watched Les grow into a responsible teenager and a very fine man.  He was a son that anyone could be very proud of.
We were very privileged to have know Les and to have shared so much time in his company.  
He will live on in our hearts.

Dear Edna & Rudy and family, We just read this today. We are so shocked and saddened by this news.Our heart felt condolences, our prayers, and our love go out to you all at this time of Les's passing. May God bless each one of you, and give you peace and comfort through this time of sadness.

Randy, I didn't know your brother, but send condolences to you and Natalie and your family. How hard to lose a brother so young!  I'm sorry for your loss.

Our hearts are heavy with the loss of Les who was our friend and our neighbor.  Lester, as my husband always called him, was a wonderful man and a dedicated father.  We will remember his smile and the good years as there were many of them prior to his illness.  We will miss the stories he brought home from his camping trips, the poker nights with the boys, the sounds of Daniel & Erica playing in the yard and the visits over the fence. Lester, you will live fondly in our hearts and in our memories.  We are happy that your last journey ended in peace.

Our prayers and thoughts are with you at this time.  Sitting here remembering some of the good times I had with Les, Pam and Brad as we all grew up together. We also lived a couple houses away.

I worked with Joanna and Les for a number of years at Alberta Research Council. I remember Les as a person who always had a smile on his face and got the job done whatever challenge was presented that day.  My condolences to Joanna and the family.

Les and his family lived down the alley from our family and my brother Brad and I used to play with Les and his sister Pam a lot!   I remember so many fun times – from planning penny carnivals and playing in the school park to hanging out at each other's back yards.  From a young age. Les had an amazing sense of humour and he was so fun to be around.  When I picture Les, I see him smiling or laughing and making everyone around him laugh too.  When I remember my childhood, I remember Les and I feel so lucky to have known him.

Les Witte was my best friend.  I first met Les when I was 3 or 4 .  We lived down the alley from each other and discovered life together.  We were together virtually every day from the time we were 4 until the time that we were 15 or 16.  Les and I played Hockey together and learned about Golf together and we were in most of our classes together during elementary and Jr.High school.

I will never forget the long summers together, whether we were trying to build a go-kart or planning a carnival with our sisters we were always doing something exciting.  Growing up with Les was like having a brother the same age, I will miss Les so much.  He was a great friend and a gentle and funny guy that would drop everything to help you if you needed the help.

I am so sorry for the loss that the Witte family and friends are feeling.  May God bless you all.
